## Data Science Ethics
We will introduce principles of professional ethics for data science and give examples of legal obligations, as well as guidelines issued by professional societies. **There is no official data scientist's oath**-—although attempts to forge one exist ([National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, 2018](https://www.nationalacademies.org/our-work/responsible-computing-research-ethics-and-governance-of-computing-research-and-its-applications#sectionProjectScope)).
