Hotspots are temporary areas created by players (usually at spawn) that other players can teleport to using /hotspot join . The main purpose of them is to allow a player to challenge everyone else on the server to pvp at a location, without the other players having to reset their bed spawn point or fly around looking for the challenging player.
This plugin was a commission for Alacity.net, a cracked anarchy server that has been running on the latest version of minecraft until October 2024. It was very enjoyable to have worked with them until the end. Thank you daynios and Celestialis for letting me open-source this.
Hotspots is currently compatible with any version from 1.20 and up, using java 21. Depending on its popularity, there might be future releases with backwards compatibility but there are no plans as of now.
Admins can reload the plugin and show its version using /hotspots reload and /hotspots version. Players have access to the following commands:
- /hotspot join <hotspotname/playername> - Joins an existing hotspot
- /hotspot create (bossbarcolor) (hotspotname) - Creates a new hotspot (uses input safe minimessage format)
- /hotspot end (admins can end other player's hotspots) - Ends the player's hotspot early
- /hotspot notifs (on/off) - Toggles hotspot notifications and bossbar
Short overview of its features:
- Folia compatible: This plugin is fully folia compatible!
- Almost entirely async: Except for a few necessary tasks, hotspot logic is done entirely async.
- Safe teleports and warmups: Teleports are done through warmups with configurable time and the plugin tries to teleport the player to a safe, random location within the configured radius.
- World-bounds: Per-world configurable bounds that hotspots can be created in. Includes x,z and y ranges.
- Playtime: Restrict usage of /hotspot create for players that have been player for less than the configured playtime.
- Particle effect: Configure a spheric particle effect that visually highlights a hotspots teleport range (and also looks cool)
- Death effect: Players that die inside a hotspot will cause firework effects to spawn and linger on the death position
- Max active Hotspots: Configure how many hotspots are allowed to be active at the same time
- Automatic Timeout system: When a player leaves, they have a configurable amount of time until their hotspot gets paused and saved
- Queue: Automatic queuing system which sorts hotspots by who had to wait the longest time first
- And much more!
