- Be careful while targeting system apps. These notifications may contain critical information.
- Include keywords in the filter, but avoid making them too specific. For example,
- Instead of "Your order #12345 has been shipped", use "shipped".
- Instead of "Meeting", use "Meeting with Neil".
- While choosing the target for your regex pattern, prefer the most specific one. The default accepts a match anywhere in the notification title or content, but "title only" or "content only" are safer options.
- Consider disabling history for filters matching notifications whose content you already know, like "Tubular is displaying over other apps". This will prevent clutter in the history.
- Consider disabling history for filters matching on-going notifications sent too frequently and repeatedly, like "Charging". This will prevent duplicate entries in the history.
- For the first few days after creating a new filter, keep an eye on the history to ensure that the filter is not too generic.
- If notifications aren't being filtered instantly/still creating an initial disturbance, try disabling battery optimizations for NotiFilter. This can be done from the Settings screen.
