#Current Planning

The website progress has been stuck for a little while, so we are trying to get a handle on where things stand and what is next to be done. Our current process has been to list out next action items at a stand-up hangout. After a week or so, we have another stand-up to check on progress. We check off the things that are complete and add next items. Thus far, the bulk of the workload has been on Jenny to implement. I have been organizing the tasks and writing this wiki to summarize.
list of sprint tasks and discussion items:

##Dec 3rd: We met over hangouts and made a first plan. We talked about the first steps to be done(Sprint 0), and scheduled the next stand-up for Dec 10th. ###Sprint 0: get everything set up

  • github organization and permissions
  • setup the link
  • upgrade WP version
  • verify PHP version
  • set a default theme
  • webhooks

##Dec 10th: We met over hangouts and checked on progress.

###Sprint 0: get everything setup

  • github organization and permissions
  • setup the link
  • upgrade WP version
  • verify PHP version
  • set a default theme
  • webhooks

We brought forward the incomplete tasks and added a few others

###Sprint 0b: discuss how to set up the WordPress site and decide what to do next.

  • draw out PHPWomen workflow (J) w/ Combell and Github
  • upgrade WP version
  • set a default theme
  • webhooks
  • write up a bit about process/what we are doing and Why (E)

##Dec 22nd: We discussed what work remained from last meeting and what we need to begin Sprint 1. This included a discussion of theme needs and clarifying workflow.

###Sprint 0b: discuss how to set up the WordPress site and decide what to do next.

  • draw out PHPWomen workflow (J) w/ Combell and Github

Development will be going to **master** branch and visible at [dev.phpwomen.org](http://dev.phpwomen.org).
      This is a breakable branch.
The live website will remain at [phpwomen.org](http://phpwomen.org) and will remain at the **production** branch on github.

  • upgrade WP version (J)

The local development copy has the WP version updated and Jenny will upload the local copy to dev.phpwomen.org for us to begin working on.

  • set a default theme

      We discussed:
      What does the site need?
pages, blog posts. buddy press should be able to pick up the theme details.

Would PHPWomen be more of a magazine style?
If we go with image-heavy, we have to collect and provide images with posts, which would require a lot of time and trouble.
Would like to go with something less image-heavy.

      **Lovecraft** has less image-focus.
      Want to remove the sidebar.
Footer has links to the content highlights.
We'd like a slightly magazine-style front page that pulls forward the highlights of the site with curated content.

Purple-fy the theme just a bit.

Could include another page for user groups where PHP Women attend.

Header image ideas: maybe a box of elephpants (all colors) or pile of phpwomen stickers.
Could offer a contest to see who can get us the best photo(s). If we had more that one good one, that would be nice to keep the page fresh.

  • webhooks (J)

  • write up a bit about process/what we are doing and Why (E)

###Sprint 1: begin working on the WordPress site What's next?

The plan is to begin the new year with a dev site running on PHP7, updated WP, and LoveCraft theme with webhooks set
People will be able to code on it.
Our next meeting is planned for January 7th.
